On March 12th we had to deliver you a bittersweet message which is the postponement of OFFF Barcelona 2020 dates to September due to the COVID-19 situation and the potential risks ssociated with holding OFFF in its original dates in April.
We’re here today facing something beyond humanity’s control. Affecting humans, closing down our frontiers, putting job at risks…
We have been working non-stop since May 2019 to celebrate an OFFF edition with you. “The Impossible” was never part of our DNA, and our wish is to always bring you outstanding experiences no matter how much it takes, because you make OFFF possible every year for the past 20 years. But unfortunately this is “the impossible” that we had to face this year. As much as we tried to fight it, as much as we tried to stay positive, the truth is: COVID-19 is beyond our control.
A pandemic began, it had us on lockdown for the past months but it had us connected more than ever. We care about you, a lot. And so we hope you read our official statement from the bottom of your heart.
In the light of everything that is happening now and the restrictions imposed by the authorities on the celebration of public shows and in coordination with the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Barcelona City Council, we are forced to postpone our event for reasons of force majeure as we are living in an uncertain situation. We do believe that OFFF can happen this September, but we thought about everyone. About you, our speakers, our sponsors, our volunteers, the sick, the healthcare staff, the people who got affected. Everyone with no exception. And as bittersweet as it sounds, we took the decision to deliver you this outstanding experience in better circumstances. In better days. And in a better year.
OFFF Barcelona 2020 will happen in May 6-7-8, 2021. We want to deliver you what YOU deserve and paid for. It breaks our heart not to be able to see you this year, not to be able to show you what we have been working on for the past 12 months. But this is a reality we have to face, and we will grow stronger than ever. The OFFF Barcelona 2020 tickets that have been purchased through our system (including Workshop tickets) will continue to be valid for OFFF Barcelona 2021 dates, attendees are not required to request any changes and can transfer their ticket to another attendee if they cannot attend.
All of our OFFF on Tour editions will also be postponed for 2021, stay tuned on their channels to check new dates.
We are incredibly grateful to our speakers, our venue, our sponsors and the government support who have already confirmed their support for 2021. We thank everyone who expressed their solidarity with us during this time.
But, there’s always a surprise from us though: in the past few months we have been investing hours, days and sleepless nights into a memorable gift to show you our gratitude. We have decided that this is no longer about OFFF 20th anniversary, this is about a worldwide affection towards something beyond our hands. It’s about how we are getting through it.
That is why we have decided to release the 20th anniversary book with all its contents in our next edition in 2021 and work on a brand new project for this year, a book that is 100% self-published, to give away to all OFFF ticket holders.
We wanted to give you a true gift and bring you some positivity in your life by reading and seeing this book in your hands. We were fascinated by how every single person in this world have got through this crazy virus situation.
We are showcasing over 100 projects in our self-published book “The Choices We Make” by OFFF founder Hector Ayuso and OFFF Communications Director Nathalie Koutia. The book is dedicated to all the healthcare staff and people who got affected by the pandemic, to our family, to our friends, to our artists, to you and to everyone.
That is part one for the surprise. Second part is that we will be shipping the book for free for everyone who bought an OFFF ticket.
